The Broke Overlander

What is Overlanding?

The term Overlanding has become sort of a buzz word latley. To me its just Vehical camping or just camping in general. Overlanding tradidtionaly is a form of self-reliant travel that typically involves exploring remote and challenging terrains using off-road vehicles. Nowadays overlanding has grown to much more then that. Unlike traditional travel, which often focuses on reaching specific destinations quickly, overlanding emphasizes the journey itself and the experiences encountered along the way.

Overlanders often embark on extended trips, spanning days, weeks, or even months, allowing them to immerse themselves in diverse landscapes, cultures, and environments. The destinations may include rugged mountain trails, desert expanses, dense forests, or other less accessible areas. Not all destinations have to be extravegant. Some of your go to best spots are within 2 hours from our home and are easy to acces with a normal non heavely modified vehical. You also dont need to spend days and or months traveling to be come a true overlander. Just getting out and exploring for a day trip is enough in my opinion. To this day i havent taken an extended overlading trip.

A key aspect of overlanding is self-sufficiency, as travelers are required to carry all necessary supplies for the duration of their journey. This can include camping gear, food, water, and tools, enabling overlanders to operate independently and adapt to various conditions. The goal is to be prepared for unforeseen challenges and to fully experience the adventure of exploring remote and untouched areas, fostering a deep connection with nature and a sense of freedom and exploration.

Overlanding is not just a mode of transportation; it represents a lifestyle that values the thrill of discovery, the joy of self-sufficiency, and the appreciation of the journey as an integral part of the travel experience. It attracts individuals who seek adventure, a break from the ordinary, and a closer connection to the world around them. If there is one thing i can instill in you is just to get out and explore. Be safe and preperded, also be nice to others and the areas that you explore. Remember to always leave it better then you found it, this ensures other can also enjoy it for many years to come. Just get out and explore, see if this is something for you, and if not then at least you can say you tried.
