The Broke Overlander

Resorces

Here are some resorces that i use to find good deals on gear and to plan my trips.

Facebook

Facebook is my go-to place for deals and groups. Two of my favorite groups are 'United By Overland' and 'Overlanding for the Poors'. These groups are where I find deals; lots of members post deals they find on gear and also DIY ideas they come up with for their builds. It's a good place to go and get ideas when I'm working on a project for my build. Another thing I would recommend is joining local camping groups. I have seen many good deals posted on some of those group pages. That's where I found my damaged tent that I rebuilt. You can also discover nice places to camp around your area that you didn't know existed. Facebook is basically all you need for resources; one of the best features they have is Marketplace. People post lots of good deals on Marketplace. I've come across many great deals for camping gear, but you have to act fast to snag them. I would recommend taking a look and seeing what they have to offer; you may find something you like.

Local Expos

Although I have never attended an Overland Expo, I have seen and done lots of research about them. One common thing I notice is that vendors always have expo deals and giveaways. That being said, expos are a great place to meet like-minded individuals and see, touch, and feel all the gear that you want to buy. I plan on attending an Overland Expo soon. I have attended some local off-road expos close to me. Lots of items that are targeted to the off-road market like ATVs and side-by-sides can also be used in overlanding. Some of the vendors are also the same. I have found and bought lots of items to add to my setup at the expos I have attended. I would recommend checking your local sites or doing a quick Google search for expos in your area.

YouTube

YouTube is my go-to place for ideas and inspiration, whether it's something I'm looking to build or somewhere I'm looking to visit. I also research items I want to buy by looking up reviews to make sure they're worth it. I can spend hours on YouTube doing research since there are lots of videos and information online. I recommend doing the same when looking for information on your next trip; you will find more than enough information most of the time. I also post videos on YouTube to help out people who are looking for ideas and information. If you're up for it, I recommend doing the same.
